MWR InfoSecurity has welcomed the news that CREST, the not-for-profit accreditation body that represents the technical information security industry, will be recognised in Asia, expanding this certification internationally. CREST confirmed yesterday that it has signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the Association of Information Security Professionals (AISP) in Singapore to work together to introduce CRESTcertifications for penetration testing in Singapore.
Ian Shaw, Group Managing Director of MWR said, “MWR has been a CREST member for many years and, in fact, some of our team in Singapore are already certified having been flown to the UK to complete the qualification. CREST sets the industry bar very high and we want to ensure that our consultants, wherever in the world they practice, replicate this standard for our clients.”
In the UK and Australia, CREST certifications are already the prevailing industry standards for penetration testing and are endorsed by the respective Governments. Ian concludes, “The introduction of CREST certifications in Singapore is a positive step and will mean organisations can easily identify those consultants who possess the right capabilities and expertise to help them ensure the integrity of their infrastructures. We will be encouraging all of our consultants, who are not already certified, to do so, maintaining our own commitment to high standards of service in Asia.”
