MWR's Ben Downton will be presenting at Retail Fraud in Dubai.

Calendar

MWR is delighted to announce that Ben Downton will be presenting at Retail Fraud on Thursday 19th November 2015 at Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf, Dubai.

Dubai has an enviable reputation around the world for a culture that benefits hugely from very low levels of crime, underpinned by strong laws and a tough penal code.

Being able to live, visit and shop in such a low crime environment is one of the great attractions of the UAE. Maintaining that way of life in the face of growing international Organised Retail Crime is the emerging challenge for Dubai’s Retail Risk and Loss Prevention leaders.

With a 12 year history of working at the pinnacle of international retail risk and loss prevention, Retail Knowledge has unique insight into how organized crime is constantly developing to threaten top retailers and how to mitigate that threat. Retail Knowledge exists solely to enable top retailers, experts and academics from around the world to share their knowledge, experiences and understanding so that together we can continue to protect retailers from the bad guys.

Talks presented by MWR

Topic: Criminals, Credit Cards & Compliance

Speaker: Ben Downton

Abstract

Credit cards are the lifeblood of many modern retailers, but they represent so much more (to many interested people) than a way of exchanging funds from a customer to a retailer. They are a juicy target for organized crime gangs, who can siphon off data from a comfortable location thousands of miles away through cyber attacks. In this presentation we explore:

  • Real life card fraud: Who they are and what they do?
  • The credit card payments ecosystem
  • The value of a credit card: What is it worth to your business?
  • How retailers can protect their data
