Talks presented by MWR

Topic: Becoming the Adversary
Speaker: Tyrone Erasmus

This presentation will allow a peek into the world of offensive security. It will show the intricate mechanics of performing a targeted attack against an organization and techniques to ensure success. The following aspects will be shown:

  • Breaching the network perimeter over the internet
  • Escalating privileges on a network
  • Learning the business processes of an organization
  • Accessing business assets and stealing money

By deconstructing a targeted attack step by step, it will highlight the difference in mindsets between defenders and attackers and an understanding of the attacker mentality will be gained. This presentation will also discuss the state of the art in offensive tools and techniques and how skilled attackers are ensuring successful compromises of large organisations.
