MWR is delighted to announce that our Head of Smart Energy, Rob Miller, will be presenting a talk on Tuesday 15th December 2015 at the Google Campus in London.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects or “things” embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. It has many possible applications, one of which is healthcare and medical devices. Forbes reported recently that there is a $117 billion market for IoT in healthcare by 2020. These, and other promising applications, makes IoT hugely attractive for a new start-up generation.
Despite the large interest in IoT, many aspects are unclear and many med-tech entrepreneurs are interested in what IoT can offer for their business.
In this event we aim to discuss the potential of IoT in healthcare and medical devices including pitfalls and challenges. We invited two experts to provide a thorough background as well as 3 start-ups that are operating in this space.
Topic: Security in Modern Medical Devices
Speaker: Rob Miller
Abstract
In this talk we will look at how medical systems are attacked, how we can design “safe by default” devices and what we can do to protect our medical networks.
