What is it?
Physical testing focuses on the aspects of physical security that will allow a person physical access to the building, in the capacity of normal business (i.e. via behaviour that would not be considered suspicious).
MWR InfoSecurity's physical testing is aimed at testing only the aspects that directly relate to Information Security. The tests and their results should not be used to assess the overall physical security of a location or office, for example, employee security.
During a Physical Security test various methods will be adopted to test the security of the perimeter, physical entry controls, equipment security and many other areas. These will include but are not limited to observation, social engineering, information analysis and physical testing.
Why do it?
Awareness of physical security weaknesses enables an organisation to put measures in place to improve the level of security and bolster their defences against unwarranted entry. Any information gathered during the exercise can be used to raise staff awareness of the security risks of weak physical security.
